Stefani, officially Stefanion, is a mountain village in the prefecture of Evrytania at an altitude of 900 meters[2], located at the entrance to a ravine formed by the mountains of Agios Nikolaos (1,494 m) and Livini (1,397 m) and is 19 km W-NW from Karpenisi[3]. In 1684, during the Venetian-Turkish wars (see Sixth Venetian-Turkish War), a victorious battle took place near the village between the armatolos Livini from Karpenisi and the Turks, and since then the mountain has taken his name. Its old name, until 1928, was Goliani, when it was renamed by the Government Gazette 156-08/08/1928 to Stefani[4]. According to the Kallikratis plan, it is the local community of Stefani, which belongs to the municipal unit of Karpenisi of the Municipality of Karpenisi and according to the 2011 census has a population of 10 inhabitants[5].
