Stenoma is a mountainous village in the prefecture of Evrytania at an altitude of 660 meters[2].

Geography - Sights

Stenoma is located on the northwestern slopes of Tymfristos (Velouchi) and east of the Tavropos River (Megdovas). It is 17 km northwest of Karpenisi[3] and is built on the Karpenisi - Neraida provincial road in an area full of fir, oak, walnut and plane trees. At a distance of 3 km from the village between the villages of Palia Viniani and Nea Viniani (present-day Viniani) and over the Tavropos is a single-arched stone bridge that was the only safe crossing point of the river before the current iron bridge further south in Parkio[4]. The bridge and a watermill in the area have been designated as historically preserved monuments since 1997, "because they are remarkable and representative examples of folk architecture of historical special use, important for the study of the evolution of architecture"[5]. It was established as a community in 1912 and at that time belonged to the prefecture of Aitoloakarnania[6]. According to the Kallikratis plan, it is the local community of Stenomatos, which belongs to the municipal unit of Karpenisi of the Municipality of Karpenisi and according to the 2011 census has a population of 139 inhabitants[7].
