Geography - attractions
Gorianades, which the locals also refer to as Agorianades, is located on the southwestern slopes of Tymfristos. It is built amphitheatrically in a fir forest and is 4 km. from Karpenisi to the west[3]. It has stone houses with tiles and in the wider area of the village there are guesthouses, hotels and several catering establishments. Before the village and Mesampelia is the chapel of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary or Panagia of Mesampelia which is a remnant of an old monastery that was destroyed in 1821 and has interesting icons. It was officially mentioned as a settlement in 1836 when it was annexed to the Municipality of Oichalia and the then Prefecture of Aetolia and Acarnania[4]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Karpenisi, Velouchi, Kallithea and Itia, it forms the Municipal Community of Karpenisi, which belongs to the Municipal Unit of Karpenisi of the Municipality of Karpenisi and, according to the 2021 Census, has a population of 117 residents.[5]
