Amiriani (Αμίριανη) Evrytania


Amiriani is a mountainous village of Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Evrytania[2].

Geography - History

Amiriani is located on the western border with the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania on the slopes of the Evrytani (southern) Agrafa at an altitude of 740 meters[3]. It is built to the northeast of the artificial lake of Kremasta and west of the Tavropos River (Megdovas). It is 15 km. S. from Kerasochori (seat of the municipality) and 37 km. W.-NW. from Karpenisi. It is considered one of the settlements of neighboring Marathia (SE) and the residents of the area call it Pera Machala or Pano Marathia. It was first mentioned as a separate settlement in 1951, being registered in the then community of Marathia.[4] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Marathia, Kato Marathia and Parkio, it forms the local community of Marathia, which belongs to the municipal unit of Fragkista of the Municipality of Agrafa and according to the 2011 census has a population of 11 inhabitants.[5]
