Karakasi (Καρακάσι) Evrytania
Karakassi[2] or Strongylou[3] is a semi-mountainous village of Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Evrytania at an altitude of 314 meters[4], which is located on the western border with the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania and on the shores of the artificial lake of Kremasta. It is 7 km. W. from West Fragkista, 16 km. SW. from Kerasochori (seat of the municipality) and 55 km. W.-NW. from Karpenisi. It is first mentioned as a separate settlement in 1951, being registered in the then community of Dytiki Fragkista.[5] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with West Fragkista, Goulaiika and Peroulaiika form the local community of Dytiki Frangkista, which belongs to the municipal unit of Fragkista of the Municipality of Agrafa and according to the 2011 census has a population of 7 inhabitants.[6]
