Kato Marathia is an uninhabited mountainous village of Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Evrytania[2], which is located on the western borders with the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania and the slopes of the Evrytanian (southern) Agrafa at an altitude of 720 meters[3]. It is built to the northeast of the artificial lake of Kremasta and west of the Tavropos River (Megdovas). It is 18 kilometers S. from Kerasochori (seat of the municipality) and 31 kilometers W.-NW. from Karpenisi and is considered one of the settlements of neighboring Marathia (W.-SW.). It is first mentioned as a separate settlement in 1951, being registered in the then community of Marathia.[4] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Marathia, Amiriani and Parkio, it forms the local community of Marathia, which belongs to the municipal unit of Frangkista of the Municipality of Agrafa and according to the 2011 census has no permanent residents.[5]
