Goulaiika (Γουλαίικα) Evrytania
Goulaiika is a semi-mountainous village of Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Evrytania at an altitude of 420 meters.[2]
Geography - History
Goulaiika is located on the western border with the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania. The village is built on the banks of the artificial lake of Kremaston, while before the construction of the dam it was on the eastern banks of the Agrafiotis River, at a distance of 15 km. SW. from Kerasochori (seat of the municipality) and 53 km. W.-NW. from Karpenisi. East (about 7 km.) is Dytiki Frangkista and north (about 4 km.), before Skamnia at the location "Fterolaka", is the Bridge of Manolis.[3] It is a stone single-arch bridge that spanned the Agrafiotis River and which is in the waters of Lake Kremasta most of the year. It was built in 1659 and its name probably comes from the Epirus master builder who built it, Manolis Chrysiotis.[4] It was first mentioned as a separate settlement in 1951, being registered in the then community of West Frangkista.[5] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with West Frangista, Karakassi and Perouleika form the local community of West Frangista, which belongs to the municipal unit of Frangkista of the Municipality of Agrafa and according to the 2011 census has a population of 32 inhabitants.[6]
