Neochori (Νεοχώρι) Evrytania
Neochori is a mountainous village in Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Evrytania.[2][3]
Geographical - historical information
Neochori is located on the border with the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania. It is built on the southern slopes of Mount Trikorfo at an altitude of 540 meters[4] overlooking the artificial lake of Kremasta. It is 48 km. S.-SE. from Agrafa (seat of the municipality) and 55 W. from Karpenisi. It was created when a part of neighboring Palaiochori sank due to landslides and many of its residents moved to its two ends (west to Neochori and east to Agios Georgios).[2] It is officially mentioned after the liberation in 1879 in the Official Gazette 50A - 25/07/1879 as being annexed to the then municipality of Agraioi. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Agios Georgios and Palaiochori, it constitutes the local community of Palaiochori, which belongs to the municipal unit of Fragistas of the Municipality of Agrafa and according to the 2011 census has a population of 41 residents.[5]
