Marathia (Μαραθιά) Evrytania
Marathia, officially Marathea, is a mountainous village of Central Greece in the Regional Unit of Evrytania[2].
Geography - History
Marathia is located on the western border with the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania on the slopes of the Evrytanian(southern) Agrafa at an altitude of 800 meters[3][4]. It is built to the northeast of the artificial lake of Kremasta and west of the Tavropos River (Megdovas). It is 17 km. S. from Kerasochori (seat of the municipality) and 39 km. W.-N.W. from Karpenisi.
According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Amiriani (Upper Marathia), the uninhabited Kato Marathia and Parkio, they constitute the local community of Marathia, which belongs to the municipal unit of Fragkista of the Municipality of Agrafa and according to the 2011 census, as a community it has a population of 91 residents while as a settlement it has 69.[5]
