Kato Kryfovo is a mountainous village in the prefecture of Ioannina at an altitude of 670 meters[1][2].

Geographical and historical information

Kato Kryfovo is located next to the Ionian Highway, south of Ioannina and is approximately 18 km from it[3]. The settlement was created by residents of Kryfovo.

Its old name was Kerasea[4] and with this name it was recognized as a settlement in 1961. It was renamed Kato Kryfovo in 1966 and in 1992 the seat of the community was transferred from Kryfovo to it[5]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Kryfovo it forms the local community of Kryfovo which belongs to the municipal unit of Agios Dimitrios of the Municipality of Dodoni and according to the 2011 census has a population of 358 inhabitants[6]
