Kryfovo (Κρυφοβό) Ioannina
Kryfovo is a mountainous village in Epirus, in the prefecture of Ioannina, located on the slopes of Mount Aetorachi at an altitude of 750 meters[1][2]. It is 21 km south of Ioannina and just 3 km from the Arta-Ioannina national road[3]. The village is mentioned in 1319 in a chrysobull of Andronikos II Palaiologos as Krehovos and as Kryfovo in the Ottoman statistical records of 1895 with a population of 195 inhabitants. In 1912, during the Balkan Wars, it burned down but was rebuilt in 1919[2]. At that time it was established as a community and the settlement was designated its seat, while in 1992 the seat was transferred from Kryfovo to Kato Kryfovo[4]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Kato Kryfovo, it forms the local community of Kryfovo, which belongs to the municipal unit of Agios Dimitrios of the Municipality of Dodoni and according to the 2011 census has a population of 55 inhabitants[5].
