Galini (Γαλήνη) Preveza
Galini is a settlement in Epirus and the Regional Unit of Preveza.[1]
General information
Galini is located towards the northern border with the Regional Unit of Ioannina, on the southern slopes of Mount Zarkorachi in the Thesprotian Mountains and at an altitude of 420 meters.[1] It is approximately 22 km. N.-N.W. from Filippiada and 50 km. N. from Preveza. North of the village is Meliana and south is Pappadates. It is officially mentioned for the first time as a separate settlement in 1961 with the name Chalasmata being listed in the community of Pappadates and in 1978 in the Government Gazette 129A - 17/08/1978 being renamed Galini.[2] According to the "Kallikratis" Program and its amendment by Cleisthenes I, together with Pappadates and Agioi Apostoloi, they constitute the community of Pappadates[3] which belongs to the municipal unit of Thesprotiko of the municipality of Ziros and according to the 2011 census has a population of 87 inhabitants[4].
