Galini (Γαλήνη) Rhodopi
The village of Galini belongs to the prefecture of Rhodopi. According to the 2011 census, it has 289 inhabitants.[1] Administratively, it belongs to the municipality of Iasmos (Kallikratis program). The population of the village is purely Muslim[2]. It was formerly called Gialantzali. It is located three kilometers southwest of Iasmos.[3] The only archaeological find in the area is a marble relief of a horseman, which was dated to the period 1st century BC-1st century AD. It depicts a wild boar hunting scene.[4] It is kept in the Archaeological Museum of Komotini. The relief has been the symbol of Komotini since 1992.[5]
