Xirokampi (Ξηροκάμπι) Arkadia
Xirokampi (Tsakonian: Τσεροκαμπε[2] or Τσεροκαγγή[2]) is a small mountainous settlement in the Peloponnese and the Regional Unit of Arcadia.[3]
Geography - Sights
Xirokampi is located in Northern Kynouria, 24 km. SW. from Astros (seat of the municipality) and 45 km. SE. from Tripoli. It is built on Parnonas at an altitude of 880 meters[4], at the northern foothills of the peak Megali Tourla (1,935 m.) while the provincial road Tripoli - Astros passes through the settlement.
Its name comes from the words "xiros" and "kampos", since the area for many years had very sparse vegetation, which is crossed by a dry river. Over time, this bare plain acquired dense vegetation.

To the northeast is Agios Ioannis and to the southwest is Agios Petros, while between them is the Malevi Monastery. Southeast of the village, on a fortified hill with a beautiful view of a large part of the eastern Peloponnese, is the Castle of Oria or Estella, which is mentioned in the Chronicle of Morea. It is a Frankish fortress that is likely to have been built in the late 13th to early 14th centuries and belonged to the medieval lordship of Dragalevos, which occupied the wider area around Astros.[5]
From the foot of the castle hill begins the Lepidas Gorge, with its two waterfalls, which continues to form the Spiliakia stream and passes next to Platanos.[6]
Administrative
It was officially mentioned as a separate settlement for the first time since 2001, when it was registered in the then Local Department of Agios Petros of the municipality of North Kynouria.[3] According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Agios Petros and the Malevi Monastery, it forms the local community of Agios Petros, which belongs to the Municipality of North Kynouria and according to the 2011 census has a population of 28 residents.[7]
