Kato Doliana (Κάτω Δολιανά) Arkadia

Kato Doliana is a village which is the seat of the community of Doliana in the province of North Kynouria. The wider administrative community also includes the villages of Ano Doliana, Dragoumi, Kouvlis, Prosilia, Rouneika and Kaminari. The original name was "Dolianitika Kalivia".

They have been characterized as a traditional settlement according to the Government Gazette D-908 a / 13.11.1998 of the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works. [2] [3]

Geography

They are located in Eastern Arcadia, next to the plain of Thyrea and on the meridian slopes of the Zavitsa mountain range. The village is crossed by the torrent Tanos as well as the road Tripoli-Astros. The area is overgrown with olive trees.
Information

The settlement was the winter residence of the inhabitants of Ano Doliani, but now, with the weakening of livestock, it has become permanent. The occupations of the inhabitants are mainly olive growing, agriculture, but also animal husbandry. In the village there is a primary school in a building of 1904, as well as a kindergarten.

Sights
Mansion of Herod of Attica

On the borders of the community are the ancient town of Eva, the Mansion of Herod of Attica, as well as the nunnery of the Loukou Monastery. Also, in Tsiorovos, there are parts of fortifications and houses of the 5th and 4th century BC, aqueduct remains and tombs. [4]

Remarkable for their uniqueness are the natural caves of the village, which divide it into two neighborhoods.

Sport

The football club "Nikitaras Dolianon Sports Cultural Association" is based in the village. [10] In short, Nikitaras APS or even plain "Nikitaras" as it is called by the inhabitants. Its name comes from the name by which Nikitas Stamatelopoulos, leader of the Greek Revolution, was known, who led the Battle of the Dolians. It is one of the oldest clubs in Arcadia, founded in 1921. It competes in the local categories of EPS Arcadia and its colors are red and white.

Personalities

Ioannis Kalostypis (1851-1918), philologist, journalist, newspaper publisher and playwright. He served as Prefect of Arta (1896; 1910?), [11] Fthiotidofokidos and Kozani.
Costas Laliotis, politician and member of PA.SO.K. since its inception.
