The wider area of the village was a road crossing since Roman times. In 1927 with the Official Gazette 179A - 30/08/1927 it was renamed Vathia and in 1961 it is mentioned written Vathia being registered in the then community of Agios Georgios.[6] According to the Kallikrates plan, together with Agios Georgios, Aetochori and Melissi form the local community of Agios Georgios, which belongs to the Municipality of North Kynouria and according to the 2011 census has a population of 7 inhabitants.[7]
