Lampinos (Λαμπινός) Achaia

Lampinos is a seaside settlement in the Prefecture of Achaia. It is part of the Local Community of Aigai in the Municipality of Aigialeia[2][3]. According to the 2011 census, it has 245 residents.

General and historical information

It is one of the newest settlements in Achaia, as it was recognized as such on 18/03/2001, when it was subordinated to the then Local Department of Aigai of the "Kapodistrian" Municipality of Aigeira[2][4][5]. According to the "Kallikratis Program", since 1 January 2011 it belongs to the Municipality of Aigialeia[2][3].

The settlement was created by internal displacement of the inhabitants of Aigai (89 families[6]), which occurred after the landslides in the area as a result of the earthquake of July 1964[5][6]. The new location where the settlement was created normally belonged to the geographical region of the then Community of Aegira, however, by decision of the Minister of the Interior Kostis Stefanopoulos, the administrative boundaries of the then Community of Aegina were extended to that area and the new settlement was placed under the Community of Aegina as a settlement location[7].

Demographic evolution

Overall, the demographic evolution of the settlement according to the national censuses[8][9] is as follows:
2001 2011
428[5][10] 245[11]
