Kato Retsina (Κάτω Ρέτσινα) Aitoloakarnania
Kato Retsina, also known as Retsina, is a semi-mountainous village in the prefecture of Aitoloakarnania at an altitude of 340 meters[2].
Geography - History
Kato Retsina is located east of the Aitolikos lagoon. The village is built on a hill of Mount Arakynthos (Zygos) among a densely vegetated area, with a panoramic view of the Mesolonghi-Aitolikos lagoon and the Oiniades plain. There is a paragliding field in the area.[3] They are 8.5 km. N. of Mesolonghi and 17 km. E.-SE. of Aitolikos (via Agrilia). As a settlement, it has been included in the Greek censuses since 1940 as part of the then community of Retsina. In 1981, the abolished settlements of Gyros and Kontogiannaika were annexed to it.[4] According to the Kallikratis program, together with Trypes, they constitute the local community of Retsina, which falls under the municipal unit of the Holy City of Messolonghi of the municipality of the Holy City of Messolonghi and, according to the 2011 census, has a population of 193 residents as a community and 157 as a settlement.[5]
