Ardosi (Άρδοσις) Ioannina
Ardosi (officially Ardosis) is a mountainous village in the municipality of Dodoni in the prefecture of Ioannina at an altitude of 560 meters[1][2].
Geographical - historical information
Ardosi is located southwest of the prefecture at the southern ends of the Souli Mountains[2] and is 50 km southwest of the city of Ioannina[3]. The village is among the 27 villages of "Lakka Souli" or "Lakkochoria" and specifically among the 14 of "Lakka Botsari", as they were named during the Turkish occupation in honor of the hero of 1821, Markos Botsaris, who was born and lived in the area for a while[4]. It is built amphitheatrically, characterized by its numerous springs and abundant water, which in the past caused serious landslides and the collapse of several houses, the primary school, the church of Agia Paraskevi and the village square to be lost[2]. To the west is one of the two tributaries that form the Acheron River in Polystafylo (see The Mountainous Part of the Acheron) and is fed by these waters[5].
Administrative information
After its incorporation into the Greek state, the settlement was placed under the province of Dodoni, where it remained until 1997[6]. It was established as a community in 1947, with the Government Gazette 202A-20/09/1947 when Ardosi was separated from the community of Elafos and was designated the seat of the homonymous community[7]. In 1997 it was incorporated into the Kapodistrian municipality of Derviziana[6], while according to the Kallikratis plan, together with Monodendro they form the local community of Ardosi which belongs to the municipal unit of Lakka Souliou of the Municipality of Dodoni. According to the 2011 census it has a population of 39 inhabitants[8].
