Georganoi (Γεωργάνοι) Ioannina
Georganoi is a mountain village in Dodoni in the prefecture of Ioannina at an altitude of 580 meters[1].
Geography - History
Georganoi is located at the southern ends of Mount Tomaros (Olytsikas), on the provincial road Ioannina - Derviziana and between the villages of Derviziana and Bala. The village is 43 km. S.-S.W. of the city of Ioannina and just 2 km. N.-N.W. of Derviziana[citation pending]. It is among the 27 villages of "Lakka Souli" or "Lakkochoria" and in particular among the 14 of "Lakka Botsari", as they were named during the period of Turkish rule in honor of the hero of 1821, Markos Botsaris, who was from and lived in the area for a period of time[2]. In 1919 it was referred to as Georganos and with the Government Gazette 184A-19/08/1919 the community of Georganos was established with the settlement as its seat. In 1928 the name was corrected to Georganoi[3]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Livadi and Bala, it forms the local community of Georganoi, which belongs to the municipal unit of Lakka Souli, in the Municipality of Dodoni, and according to the 2011 census has a population of 69 residents[4]
