Ano Mavrikio (Άνω Μαυρίκι) Achaia
Ano Mavrikio is a small mountainous settlement in the Prefecture of Achaia, part of the Local Community of Mavrikio, and according to the "Kallikratis Program" since 1/1/2011 belongs to the Municipality of Aigialeia[2][3].
Historical data
A settlement is mentioned in the 19th century with the name "Mourikio", which is the current mountainous Ano Mavrikio, a name that was corrected to Mavrikio on 31/05/1914[4][5], as was that of the then Community of Mourikio to the Community of Mavrikio[4][5]. Ano Mavrikio was recognized on 16/10/1940 and was subordinated to the then Community of Mavrikio[2][3][6]. The seat of the then Community of Mavrikio was transferred from the settlement of Mavrikio to the newly established settlement of Kato Mavrikio, while the old settlement of Mavriki was abolished[4][6]. During the period 1997-2010, based on the "Kapodistrias Plan", it belonged to the former Municipality of Aigio as part of the former Municipal district of Mavrikio[2][3][5][6].
Residents of Ano Mavrikio moved to Kato Mavrikio as early as the mid-19th century, when Kato Mavrikio, formerly known as Vodova, began to be systematically censused in 1879[5].
Demographic evolution
The demographic evolution of the settlement in the 21st century is as follows:
Year Population
2001 14[5][7]
2011 23[8]
