Ammoudia (Αμμουδιά) Trikala

Ammoudia is a semi-mountainous village in the Trikala Regional Unit in Thessaly at an altitude of 120 meters[2].

Geography

Ammoudia is located in the southern part of the former prefecture of Trikala, 10 km. SW. from Trikala and next to the Portaikos River. It is between the settlements of Kato Elati (NW), Parapotamos (E) and Lili (SW). It was first officially mentioned as a settlement in 1920, when it was annexed to the then community of Valtsinos with its old name Zgari. It was renamed Ammoudia in 1928, Government Gazette 81A - 14/05/1928. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Kato Elati, it forms the local community of Kato Elati, which falls under the municipal unit of Kallidendros of the municipality of Trikala and, according to the 2011 census, has a population of 75 residents.[3]
