Makrylies (Μακρυλιές) Samothraki
Makrylies is a settlement of Samothrace located in the southwest of the island[1] at a distance of approximately 9 km. south of Chora. To the northwest is Kamariotissa while next to it and to the east is Lakkoma. According to local tradition, they owe their name to the type of olives produced in the area.[2]
They are officially mentioned in 1918, written Makrylies, in the Government Gazette 116A - 28/05/1918 to be annexed to the then community of Xiropotamos. In 1951 the settlement was abolished and was listed again in 1991 (written Makrylies - i.e. with a "y").[3] According to the plan, Kallikratis falls under the Municipality of Samothrace and according to the 2011 census it has a population of 36 residents[4] while in 1991 and 2001 it had 18[5] and 9[6] respectively.
