Lamprino (Λαμπρινόν) Xanthi
Lamprino or Lambrino is a lowland village of Thrace in the Regional Unit of Xanthi.[1]
Geography - History
Lamprino is located in the plain of Xanthi at an altitude of 45 meters[2] and 7 km southwest of the city center. It is built between Petrochori (W.), Evmoiro (N.) and Lefki (SE.) while the Xanthi - Kavala National Road passes to the north and the Egnatia Odos to the south. The old name of the village, during the Turkish occupation, was Radavos and so it is mentioned, after the liberation of Thrace, in the Government Gazette 301A - 13/09/1926, that it was annexed to the then community of Morsa (today's Evmoiro). In 1928, with the Government Gazette 193A - 20/09/1928, it was renamed Lambrino.[3] According to the "Kallikratis" Program, together with Evmoiro, Petrochori, Lefki, Nea Morsini and Palaia Morsini, it forms the municipal community of Evmoiro, which falls under the municipal unit of Xanthi of the Municipality of Xanthi and according to the 2011 census, has a population of 44 residents.[4]
