Kato Rodini (Κάτω Ροδινή) Achaia
Kato Rodini is a seaside village in the prefecture of Achaia with a maximum altitude of 40 meters[5]. Kato Rodini is built on the coast of the western limits of the Gulf of Corinth, next to Psathopyrgos and is 18 km from Patras[6]. It is located very close to the Olympia E65 highway and the old Corinth - Patras National Road. The village has a beautiful pebble beach with natural shade[7][8].
It was inhabited by residents of Chroutsa, who came down to the area from the mountains[3].
Administrative development
It was recognized as an independent settlement on 19/03/1961 and was subordinated to the then Community of Zyria[9][10]. With the P.D. 293 of 26/08/1996 (Government Gazette 203 of 27/08/1996) the then settlement of Rodini, as it is mentioned, of the then Community of Zyria was annexed to the former Community of Psathopyrgos[10][11][12]. During the period 1997-2010, based on the “Kapodistrias Plan”, it belonged to the former Municipality of Rio as part of the former municipal district of Rio[9][12]. With the implementation of the “Kallikratis” program, together with Psathopyrgos, it was incorporated into the Local Community of Psathopyrgos which belongs to the Municipal Unit of Rio of the Municipality of Patras[9][12][13].
Demographic evolution
The demographic evolution of the settlement in the 21st century is as follows:
Year Population
2001 164[14][15]
2011 133[16]
