Asprogerakas (Ασπρογέρακας) Kefalonia
Asprogerakas is a settlement in Kefalonia. Administratively, it falls under the local community of Poros, the municipal unit (former municipality) of Elios-Pronon, the municipality of Argostoli, the regional unit of Kefalonia, in the region of the Ionian Islands, according to the Kallikrates program, as well as the changes that followed this program.[2][3]. Before the Kapodistrias plan and the Kallikrates program, it belonged to the Kranaia district of the Kefalonia prefecture, in the geographical department of the Ionian Islands.[4][5]
Geography
Asprogerakas is a semi-mountainous settlement in southeastern Kefalonia. It is located on the plateau formed by the Ainos River on its southeastern outskirts towards Cape Kapros, near the Poros-Vlachata provincial road (EP 1) and at an average altitude of 260. It is approximately 33 km. SE. of Argostoli.[4][5][6][7][8][9]

Administrative changes
The settlement was recognized in 1866 and was annexed to the municipality of Pron(n)on in the prefecture of Kefallinia. With the Government Gazette 244A – 04/12/1997 it was detached from the community of Poros and annexed to the municipality of Elios-Pronon. With the Government Gazette 87A – 07/06/2010 it was detached from the municipality of Elios-Pronon and annexed to the municipality of Kefalonia. With the Government Gazette 43A – 09/03/2019 it was detached from the municipality of Kefalonia and annexed to the municipality of Argostoli.[3][13]
Historical data
Asprogerakas is one of the villages of Kefalonia that suffered the most from the destructive fury of Enkelados in 1953. Few of the houses in the village remained standing and unaffected.[14]
