Divouno, officially Divounion, is a mountain village in Kilkis at an altitude of 520 meters[1].

Geography - History

Divouno is located on the southwestern slopes of Mount Dysoron (part of the Kroussia Mountains). The village is 16 km. N.-NE. of the city of Kilkis and 67.5 km. N. of Thessaloniki. After the Balkan Wars and the population exchange, the Refugee Resettlement Committee (EAP) settled 20 refugee families from Pontus[2]. Its old name, from the Turkish occupation, was Otmanli or Otmanli and it is mentioned with this name in 1919 in the Government Gazette 48A-05/03/1919 to be annexed to the then community of Fanarli which belonged to the prefecture of Thessaloniki. In 1927 it was renamed Agios Pavlos and in 1951 it was renamed Divounion[3]. In September 1943, an armed conflict took place in the settlement between the resistance organizations of ELAS and PAO[4].

According to the Kallikratis program, together with Tripotamos, it forms the local community of Tripotamos, which belongs to the municipal unit of Kroussoi in the municipality of Kilkis and according to the 2011 census has a population of 46 residents[5].
