Asprokklisia (Ασπροκκλησιά) Trikala
Asproklisia is a village and seat of the homonymous local community, of the municipal unit (former municipality) of Chassia, of the municipality of Meteora, of the regional unit (former prefecture) of Trikala, in the region of Thessaly, according to the Kallikratis program, as well as the changes that followed this program.[1][2] Before the Kapodistrias plan and the Kallikratis program, it belonged to the Kalambaka district of the Trikala prefecture, in the geographical department of Thessaly.[3][4]
Geography
Asproklisia is a mountainous village in the northern part of the prefecture of Trikala, right on the border with the prefecture of Grevena. It is located on the southern slopes of Chasia (peak "Stiarba") and near the northern bank of the Mykanis River (Mourgani), a little north of the Deskati-Trikala provincial road (EO 26) and at an average elevation of 590. It is approximately 55 km. NW of Trikala.[3][4][5][6][7]

The local community of Asproklisia is characterized as a rural mountainous settlement, with an area of 55.263 km² (2011). It also includes the settlements of Kerasoula and Psiloma.[1]

Administrative changes until "Kallikratis"
The settlement was recognized in 1883 and annexed to the municipality of Tymfaia in the prefecture of Trik(k)ala. In 1912 it was designated as the seat of the homonymous community. In 1994 it was annexed to the municipality of Hassia. With the Government Gazette 87A – 07/06/2010 it was detached from the municipality of Hassia and annexed to the municipality of Kalambaka, which in 2018 was renamed the municipality of Meteora.[2][11]
Historical and general information
In 1897, the borders of Greece reached the location where the village is built. There was a guard post there that has been converted into a chapel.[4] The inhabitants of the village are mainly engaged in agriculture (tobacco cultivation), livestock farming and logging. Also, the village is home to important intellectual figures with a presence in the press, gastronomy and folklore.
