Agios Vasileios (Άγιος Βασίλειος) Arta
Agios Vasileios is a settlement in the local community of Piga, in the municipal unit (former municipality) of Tetrafylia, in the municipality of Georgios Karaiskakis, in the regional unit (former prefecture) of Arta, in the region of Epirus, according to the Kallikratis program. [1][2]
Before the Kapodistrias plan and the Kallikratis program, it belonged to the province and Arta, in the geographical department of Epirus.[3][4]
Geographical information
Agios Vasileios is a mountainous settlement in the eastern end of the prefecture of Arta, on the southeastern slopes of Mount Kokkinolakkos, right next to the border with the prefecture of Karditsa and on the west bank of the Acheloos River, at an average elevation of 500 meters. It is approximately 78 kilometers northeast of Arta. [5][6][3][4]

Administrative changes until "Kallikratis"
The settlement was recognized in 1940 and annexed to the community of Piga. With the Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997 it was detached from the community of Piga and annexed to the municipality of Tetrafylia. With the Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010 it was detached from the municipality of Tetrafylia and annexed to the municipality of Georgios Karaiskakis. [2]
Sights
The church of Agios Georgios, in the south-central part of the settlement, in a location overlooking Acheloos. It has a remarkable wooden iconostasis and a stone-built fountain in the courtyard.
