Agios Aimilianos (Άγιος Αιμιλιανός) Chios

Agios Aimilianos is a settlement of the Chios Regional Unit in the North Aegean Region, on the island of Chios, on its west-southwest coast, with a population of 52 inhabitants (2011 census).[2] It is built at an average altitude of 20 meters above sea level, at a road distance of approximately 15 kilometers south of the city of Chios.

Geography-demography

The geographical coordinates of Agios Aimilianos are latitude 38°17' North and longitude 26°07' East. The nearest settlements are, in order, Monolia to the northeast (400 meters as the crow flies), Voudotopos to the west (approximately half a kilometer) and Agia Fotia to the northeast (1 kilometer as the crow flies). The nearest important village, however, is Kallimasia, 1.5 km to the northwest. As a seaside settlement, Agios Aimilianos has an economy based on summer tourism, with a small agricultural production, mainly from olive trees. The beach of Agios Aimilianos is pebbly and secluded, without organization, and is suitable for quiet swimming.[3] Near Monolia there is also the beach of Agios Ioannis, where there is a small harbor. Every year on the feast of the saint, on 8 August, a festival is held with a procession of his image and an offering of octopus pilaf.

Administratively, Agios Aimilianos is today part of the Municipal Community of Kallimasia, of the Municipal Unit of Ionia, of the Municipality of Chios, in the Regional Unit of Chios, of the North Aegean Region. The village's postal code is 82100.
