Agioneri (Αγιονέρι) Arkadia
Agioneri is a settlement in the local community of Loutra Iraias, in the municipal unit of Iraia, in the municipality of Gortynia, in the regional unit (former prefecture) of Arkadia, in the Peloponnese region, according to the Kallikratis program.[2][3] Before the Kapodistrias plan and the Kallikrates program, it belonged to the province of Gortynia in the prefecture of Arkadia, in the geographical department of Peloponnese.[4][5]
Until 1927, the settlement was called Betsi.[3]
Geography
Agioneri is a semi-mountainous settlement in northwestern Arkadia, near the borders with the prefecture of Ilia and the Ladonas River, at an average elevation of 280. It is located approximately 101 km NW of Tripoli. [6][7][4][5]
Distances
The settlement is connected by road to the Dimitsana-Bertsias provincial road shortly after Liodora by a 2 km road, to Ochthia by a 4 km road, to Iamatikes Piges by a 1.5 km road and to Chrysochori by a 3.5 km dirt road. It is 37 km from Lagadia and 34 km from Dimitsana.

The settlement was recognized in 1835 and annexed to the municipality of Iraia. In 1912 it was detached from the municipality of Iraia and annexed to the community of Vlachos. In 1927, it was renamed Agioneri

With the Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997 it was detached from the community of Loutra Iraia and annexed to the municipality of Iraia
With the Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010 it was detached from the municipality of Iraia and annexed to the municipality of Gortynia

Historical information
In the village, at the location of Aloni in Kallinteris, on March 21, 1821, Dimitrakis and Georgios Plapoutas gathered their young men from all over Iraia and started the revolution of '21 as one of the first banners of the Revolution was raised. Since 1995, the Municipality of Iraia has erected a monument at this point and every year on March 21 the historical anniversary is celebrated. [8]
General
The residents are engaged in agriculture and livestock farming. The village has a cultural center, which is housed in the old school that has been renovated and is used by the cultural association. It also has a newly established sports center. [9]
