Greece National Road 3 is a highway that is the old national road from Eleusis to Larissa , and near Tyrnavos to Elassonas and the new national road up to the border with the FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) near Niki and links with the M3. It is also E65 north of Larissa. In the 1980s, the highway opened a bypass of Tyrnavos and Elassonas. It is one of the longest higways in Greece. It is bypassed by Greek National Road 1 since the 1960s up to Larissa. It used to serve as a highway to Thessaloniki with the same route up to Larissa.

There had been some farmer's protests against low prices as they spilled milk on this highway in 2003. It lasted for a couple of days and tractors blocked the entire highway.

In 2002, a future superhighway linking Larissa, Kozani and Niki and to Bitola in FYROM outside Greece began construction, the date of opening is yet confirmed and will be opened as early as the late-2000s. The construction is presently north of Larissa and from the bridge of the Haliacmon River north to Niki. It is presently unpad and bridges have yet been constructed as well as within Kozani with a few interchanges.

The highway passes and by-passes through these places:
