Vythisma (Βύθισμα) Evrytania
Vythisma is a mountainous settlement located in the prefecture of Evrytania[2]. To the east of the village passes the Aniada stream which ends (in the south) in the Krikeliotis River. It is 25 km south of Karpenisi and 6 km southeast of Aniada[3]. Its old name is Selos[4] or Sellos[5] and it is built between the mountains of Kalliakouda, Tsouma, Tufa and Kolosyrtis. Its name came after 1928 when, due to subsidence, a large part of its houses "sunk". This event caused many residents to move to Karpenisi, Agrinio, Lamia, Athens, etc. while the village at that time had a population of 237 permanent residents[6]. It has been officially referred to as Sellos since 1836 when it was annexed to the municipality of Evrytania. In 1912 it was annexed to the then community of Psiana and in 1930 it was renamed Vythisma[5][7]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Psiana, Agios Charalambos, Palaiochori and Kastanoula, it forms the local community of Psiana, which belongs to the municipal unit of Domnistas of the Municipality of Karpenisi and according to the 2011 census has a population of 17 inhabitants[8].
