Niselli (Νησέλλι) Imathia
Niselli (officially Nisellion, also informally pronounced with an "l", as Niseli, so it should not be confused with Niselia Lesvos) is a lowland village in Greece, in the regional unit (former Prefecture) of Imathia.[2] It is built at an average altitude of 10 meters above sea level and its population in the 2011 census was 653 inhabitants.[3]
Administrative history
Formerly Niselli was a village in the District of Imathia, Prefecture of Imathia, and was directly subordinate to the Municipality of Alexandria. With the implementation of the "Kapodistrias" Plan, Niselli was annexed to the Municipal Community of Alexandria of the Municipality of Alexandria. With the implementation of the "Kallikratis" Program on January 1, 2011, Niselli reached its current administrative affiliation, according to which it is one of the three settlements (along with the city of Alexandria and Schinas) of the Municipal community of Alexandria, which is part of the Municipal Unit of Alexandreia of the new, enlarged Municipality of Alexandria of the Regional Unit of Imathia.[4]
Geography
The geographical coordinates of the center of Niselli are 40°35΄37΄΄ North latitude and 22°27΄40΄΄ East longitude. The village is located in the historical area of Roumlouki. It is built 450 meters from the left (northern) bank of the Aliakmonas River and next to the eponymous Niselli Interchange (no. 16) of the new Egnatia Highway (A2). Here, the Egnatia intersects with the "National Road 1" (EO1), the well-known Old National Road of Athens-Thessaloniki. The nearest settlement is Niselloudi, 2 kilometers by road to the east. Niselli is also 4 kilometers from the center of Alexandria, the capital of its municipality, and 48 kilometers from the center of Thessaloniki via the new Egnatia Highway.
