Makrykampos (Μακρύκαμπος) Karditsa

Makrykampos is a settlement of Argyri in Thessaly and the Regional Unit of Karditsa.[2][3]

Geographical - Historical information

Makykampos is located on the western borders with the Regional Unit of Arta and Evrytania, north of the Platanias stream which after a while ends in the Acheloos and is built at an altitude of 500 meters[2]. It is approximately 4 km. S.-S.W. from Argyri, 44 km. S.-S.W. from Anthiro (seat of the municipality) and 110 km. W.-S.W. from Karditsa. A landmark of the area is the bridge of Avlaki (1907-1911), over the Acheloos, in the southwest and between the villages of Neo Argyri Evrytanias and Avlaki Valtou.[4]

The village was officially mentioned as a separate settlement for the first time in 1940, under the name Prava, being annexed to the community of Argyriou, while in 1957 with the Government Gazette 119A - 03/07/1957 it was renamed Makrykampos.[5] According to the "Kallikratis" Program, together with Argyriou and Megali Petra, they form the community of Argyriou, which falls under the municipal unit of Acheloos of the Municipality of Argithea, while according to the 2011 census, 52 residents were registered.[6] The population censuses are:

Census 1951 1961 1971 1981 1991 2001 2011
Population 127[7] 137[8] 112[9] 77[10] 64[11] 81[12] 52
