Asomata (Ασώματα) Imathia

Asomata is a village and seat of the homonymous local community, of the municipal unit and municipality of Veroia, of the regional unit (former prefecture) of Imathia, in the region of Central Macedonia, according to the Kallikratis program.[2][3] Before the Kapodistrias plan and the Kallikratis program, it belonged to the Imathia province of the Imathia prefecture, in the geographical department of Macedonia.[4][5]

Geography

Asomata is a semi-mountainous village in the central part of the Imathia prefecture. It is located on the borders of the Aliakmonas plain and on the north bank of the river, on the Egnatia Odos and at an average altitude of 210. It is approximately 5 km. SE. of Veroia. The local community is classified as a rural semi-mountainous settlement, with an area of ​​2,536 km² (2011).[2][4][5][6][7][8]

Administrative changes

The settlement was recognized in 1918 and annexed to the community of Mikrougouzi in the prefecture of Thessaloniki. In 1946 it was subordinated to the prefecture of Imathia. In 1958 it was annexed to the community of Agia Varvara. With the Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997 it was detached from the municipality of Agia Varvara and annexed to the municipality of Veroia.[3]
