Arachos (Άραχος) Imathia
Arachos is a village and seat of the homonymous local community, of the municipal unit (former municipality) of Platy, of the municipality of Alexandreia, of the regional unit (former prefecture) of Imathia, in the region of Central Macedonia, according to the Kallikratis program. [2][3] Before the Kapodistrias plan and the Kallikratis program, it belonged to the province and prefecture of Imathia, in the geographical department of Macedonia. [4][5] A Pontian cultural association is active in the settlement.
Geography
Arachos is a lowland village in the far northeastern part of the prefecture of Imathia, next to the border with the prefecture of Thessaloniki. It is located in the large plain of Loudias, very close to the provincial road (EO 1) and the Alexandreia-Veroia railway line, at an average elevation of 10. It is approximately 33 km NE of Veroia. The local community is characterized as a rural lowland settlement, with an area of 5.629 km² (2011). [4][5][6][7][8][2]

Administrative changes
The settlement was recognized in 1940 and annexed to the Gida community of the Thessaloniki prefecture. In 1940 it was subordinated to the Imathia prefecture and in 1950 it was designated the seat of the homonymous community. With the Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997 it was detached from the community of Arachos and annexed to the municipality of Platy. With the Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010 it was detached from the municipality of Plateos and annexed to the municipality of Alexandreia. [3]
