Agia Triada (Αγία Τριάς) Larissa

Agia Triada is a settlement in the local community of Skotoussa, in the municipal unit of Polydamantas, in the municipality of Farsala, in the regional unit (former prefecture) of Larissa, in the region of Thessaly, according to the Kallikratis program.[2][3]

Before the Kapodistrias plan and the Kallikratis program, it belonged to the province of Farsala in the prefecture of Larissa, in the geographical department of Thessaly.[4][5]

Until 1927, the settlement was called Soupli.[3]

Geography

Agia Triada is a semi-mountainous settlement in the southern part of the prefecture of Larissa, near the border with the prefecture of Magnisia. It is located at the western ends of the small mountain Chalkodonion (Mavrovouni) and at an average elevation of 418. It is approximately 40 km S.E. of Larissa.[4][5][6][7]

Administrative changes until "Kallikratis"

The settlement appears administratively in 1833 as Soupli and was annexed to the then municipality of Skotoussa. In 1927 it was renamed Agia Triada.

With the Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997 the settlement was detached from the community of Skotoussa and annexed to the municipality of Polydamantas
With the Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010 the settlement was detached from the municipality of Polydamantas and annexed to the municipality of Farsala

Sightseeing

On the road connecting Agia Triada with Ano Skotoussa there are ruins of an ancient settlement, near which the historic Battle of Cynos Kephalae (197 BC) took place, where the Romans defeated the Macedonians.[8]
