Agia Eirini (Αγία Ειρήνη) Kythnos
Agia Eirini is a settlement in the local community and municipality of Kythnos, in the regional unit of Kea-Kythnos, in the South Aegean region, according to the Kallikrates program.[1][2] Before the Kallikrates program and the Kapodistrias plan, it belonged to the province of Kea in the Cyclades prefecture, in the geographical department of the Aegean Islands.[3][4]
Geography
Agia Eirini is a coastal settlement in northeastern Kythnos. It is located in the cove of a small bay near Loutra, at an average elevation of 5. It is approximately 6 km. N. of Chora.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

Administrative changes until "Kallikratis"
The settlement was recognized in 1928 and annexed to the community of Kythnos. With the Government Gazette 244A - 4/12/1997 it was detached from the community of Kythnos and annexed to the municipality of Kythnos.[2]
Historical information
The entire area near the settlement, especially north of Loutra, has been excavated in recent decades and remains of prehistoric settlements have come to light, probably from the Mesolithic Period (9th-8th millennium BC). The small, but very safe, harbor of the settlement was written in the history of Modern Greece for the bloody events that took place there, in March 1862 and which went down in history as the Kythniaka. These events were the beginning of Otto's expulsion from Greece.
