Agia Anastasia (Αγία Αναστασία) Ioannina
Agia Anastasia is a village and the seat of the homonymous local community that belongs administratively to the municipality of Dodoni.[1][2] Before the implementation of the "Kallikratis" program and the "Kapodistrias" plan, it belonged to the Dodoni district of the prefecture of Ioannina.[3][4]
Until 20/9/1928, the settlement was called Plesia Tsarkovistis.[1]
Geographical information
Agia Anastasia is a mountainous village located geographically in the south-central part of the prefecture of Ioannina. It is located at the northern ends of Mount Tomaros (Olytsika) and next to the Egnatia Motorway, at an average altitude of 700 meters. It is approximately 25 km. SW. of the city of Ioannina.[3][4][5][6][7]
Local community
The local community of Agia Anastasia is classified as a rural mountainous settlement with an area of 7.815 km² (2011). It also includes the settlement of Zoodochos Pigi.[1]

Administrative changes until "Kallikratis"
The settlement was recognized in 1919 as Plesia Tsarkovistis and was designated the seat of the homonymous community. In 1928 it was renamed Agia Anastasia. With the Government Gazette 244A - 4/12/1997 the settlement was detached from the community of Agia Anastasia and annexed to the municipality of Dodoni.[2]
Historical information
Agia Anastasia was first inhabited by workers at the monastery of Agia Paraskevi (1700-1800), which was destroyed by Ali Pasha. The residents also built the church of Agia Anastasia, which was destroyed by landslides in 1932. The settlement was burned by the Germans in 1943, as a reprisal for guerrilla activity in the area.[4][11]
Sights
Near the main church of the settlement there are ruins of an ancient acropolis.[12]
The chapel of Agia Paraskevi celebrates on 26 July.
