Agalianos (Αγαλιανός) Aitoloakarnania
Agalianos is a settlement and seat of the homonymous local community, of the municipal unit (former municipality) of Parakambylia, of the municipality of Agrinio, of the regional unit (former prefecture) of Aitoloakarnania, in the region of Western Greece, according to the Kallikratis program.[1][2] Before the Kapodistrias plan and the Kallikratis program, it belonged to the Trichonida province of the Aitoloakarnania prefecture, in the geographical department of Central Greece.[3][4]
From 1912 to 1921 the settlement was called Agalinos.[2]
Geography
Agalianos is a mountainous settlement in the north-central part of the Aitoloakarnania prefecture. It is located next to the border with the prefecture of Evrytania, between the western foothills of Chelidona and the northern foothills of Panitolikos, on the southwestern shores of the artificial lake Kremaston and at an average altitude of 420. It is approximately 93 km. N. N. E. of Messolonghi.[3][4][5][6][7][8]
Local community
The local community of Agalianos is characterized as a rural mountainous settlement, with an area of 9.644 km² (2011). It also includes the settlements of Lakomata and Harama.[1]

Administrative changes until "Kallikratis"
The settlement was recognized in 1836 and annexed to the municipality of Parakambylia of the former prefecture of Acarnania & Aetolia. It was successively included in the prefectures of Evrytania (1899), Aitoloakarnania (1909), Evrytania (1943) and Aitoloakarnania (1948). Between 1912 and 1921 it was called Agalinos. With the Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997 the settlement was detached from the community of Agalianos and annexed to the municipality of Parakambylia. With the Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010 it was detached from the municipality of Parakambylia and annexed to the municipality of Agrinio.[2]
