Aetos (Αετός) Trikala
Aetos or Ntovroi (Dovroi)[1] is a settlement in Thessaly and the Trikala Regional Unit.[2]
General information
Aetos is located on the border with the Epirus Region while it is built in Tzoumerka of Pindos and at an altitude of 730 meters its elevation reaches 804 meters above sea level. It belongs to the Municipality of Pyli[1] and has 24 residents (2011 census)[3]. It has dense vegetation, consisting mainly of holly trees. Every year on July 26, the patron saint of the village, Agia Paraskevi, is celebrated with a festival taking place on July 25 to 27. The chapel is located just after the entrance to the village. In winter it has less than 10 residents who are mainly engaged in livestock farming, while in summer the residents number 150. It is 74 km from Trikala, 89 km from Arta and 6 km from Mesochora. Elevated above Aetos, Pachtourniaska or (Pachtouratsa or Mytikas) dominates with an altitude of 1,976 meters and Dokimi at 2,008 meters. Under the Aetos tunnel, a two-way tunnel, 530 meters long, which was completed in 1994, and the Arta national road passes through Acheloos at the "Patakas" location, which in the old days was a passage for the residents to the other villages. In the summer, part of the local football matches are held in the village.
