Afyssos or Afissos is a coastal settlement of the Municipality of South Pelion, with 272 permanent residents (2011 census). [1] It is 25 km from Volos, built in the Pagasitic Gulf.

According to legend, Jason and his Argonauts had stopped in Afissos to refuel before continuing their journey in search of the Golden Fleece. The village square is called "Argonautai", in honor of this legend.

The village is built amphitheatrically and presents a beautiful architectural homogeneity. The village has 3 beaches. Kallifteri, before anyone enters the village, Lagoudi and Ambovos.
