Ioannou began his career in Charlton Athletic's academy and completed an apprenticeship with Rushden & Diamonds, during which he played for Cyprus U19, before joining Barnet in 2006. He spent time on loan to Welwyn Garden City in 2007[1] before making his Football League debut against Bristol Rovers on 14 April 2007.[2] He was playing for Welwyn in 2010.[1]
