Valtino (Βαλτινό) Trikala
The village of Valtino is a village in the city of Trikala. Administratively, it falls under the Municipality of Trikala.
Location
It is located 13 kilometers northwest of the city of Trikala at an altitude of 120 meters. It has an area of 4,975 square meters and, according to the last census, 671 permanent residents.
Name
The name of the village is due to the morphology of the terrain[1], as in the past there were swamps (marshes, swamps) in the area.
History
The determination of the antiquity of the village, according to historical sources, dates back to the post-Byzantine era.
Previously, the village was built further north, at the location "Paliochori", but an illness that struck the residents forced their relocation to the current location.
Valtino has all the infrastructures of primary and secondary education and operates a kindergarten, a kindergarten, an elementary school, a high school and a high school.
It has a good street layout, large and wide asphalt roads, squares, parks and a recreational forest.
In 1964, the Valtino Cultural Association was founded.
In 1976, the Valtino Sports Club was founded.
From 1994 to the present, the local newspaper "To Valtino" [2] has been published, initially in print, but now digitally.
The Digital Folklore Museum of Valtino [3] and the family trees of Valtino [4] also operate digitally.
In the center of the village is the Church of Agios Athanasios.
Just outside the village, in a forest[5] with centuries-old trees, there is the chapel of the Virgin Mary[6] (Assumption of the Virgin Mary), in whose memory the village celebrates on August 15.
Administrative details
In 1998, with the plan of "I. Kapodistrias", Valtino became the seat of the Municipality of Kallidendros. The Municipality operated from 1999 to 2010 with its seat in Valtino. The Municipal Unit (former Municipality) of Kallidendros occupied an area of 21.8 square kilometers and had a total population of 2,193 residents.

Exalofos: 140 inhabitants
Matsoukiotika: 127
Local Community of Kato Elati: 345 inhabitants

Kato Elati: 142 inhabitants
Meligos: 128 inhabitants
Local Community of Fotada: 378 inhabitants
