Stournaiika (Στουρναραίικα) Trikala
Steournaraiika or Stournareika, formerly known as Koutsena, is a settlement in the Municipality of Pyli,[1][2] in the Trikala regional unit of Thessaly, Greece. It is located at an altitude of 846 meters.
In 2011, it had a population of 376 inhabitants.[3]
It is 16 km from Pyli and 35 from Trikala.
Historical events
In this area, on July 29, 1819, the chieftain Nikolaos Stournaris repelled an attack by the Turks, who tried and eventually succeeded in suppressing the Aspropotamos revolution in its infancy.[4]
