Historical data

It is a very old settlement, probably created during the last period of the Byzantine Empire, initially at the entrance to the valley. In the early 19th century, N. Nikolaou, a representative of the village, went and asked the Pasha of Ioannina, to whom the village belonged, for permission to move the village inland, a permission he received from Ali Pasha, after Ali Pasha trusted him. The main reason was the safety of the residents: The road from Monastir to Kastoria and Ioannina passed through there, and every now and then occasional raiders robbed and plundered the residents. The old village was therefore abandoned and two settlements were built towards the interior of the small valley: One in the Tsetiroki area, which was abandoned after a few years, and the other where Skopia is today. It was then called Ano Nevoliani. The transfer of the settlement must have had positive effects on security and the economy. Only the Gheggi continued to raid and create problems. The village in its new location gradually grew, as Turks settled there, creating their own "mahala" (neighborhood), "the Mosque", as it became known from the mosque with its minaret, which was destroyed in 1928. In 1886 it was mentioned[3] as Ano Dolian with 1,150 Christians and 440 Muslim residents. During the population exchange, 59 Muslim families (350 people) left and 25 refugee families arrived: three from Thrace and 22 from Asia Minor.[4]

The "Amyntas" Cultural Association is active in the village.
