General information

Psarro is located towards the Regional Unit of Karditsa, on the southeastern slopes of Mount Loupata at an altitude of 1,004 meters[2]. It is approximately 38 km W-SW from Trikala, 19 km W from Pyli (seat of the municipality) and just 1.5 km W from Stournareika while the Arta - Trikala National Road passes through the village. Its name is due to the commander of the 1821 Revolution, Captain Psarro, who was killed at this point.[3]

They are officially mentioned as a separate settlement for the first time in 2001, being enumerated in the then Local Department of Stournareikon of the municipality of Pindae.[1] According to the Kallikrates program and its amendment by Kleisthenes I, together with Stournareikon, Agios Konstantinos, Kallithea, Karyes, Kastania, Palaiochori and Isiomatas they constitute the community of Stournareikon[4] which falls under the Municipal Unit of Pindae of the Municipality of Pyli and according to the 2011 census, 12 residents were enumerated[5] while in the 2001 census there were 44[6].
