Glistra (Γλίστρα) Trikala
Glistra[1] or Glystra[2] is a settlement in the Municipality of Pyli in Thessaly and the Regional Unit of Trikala.
General information
Glistra is located on the western borders of the Region of Thessaly with Epirus, east of the Acheloos River, on the western slopes of the Hatzi peak of South Pindos at an altitude of 980 meters[3] while to its northwest rises Tzoumerka.[1] It is approximately 84 km W.-S.W. from Trikala (via Mesochora), 64 km W.-S.W. from Pyli (seat of the municipality) and 13 km NE. from Myrofyllo (considered a settlement of[2]).
It is mentioned, after the incorporation of Thessaly, in 1883 with its old name from the Turkish rule as Gavaliora in the Government Gazette 126A - 02/04/1883 to be annexed to the then municipality of Ethika. In 1928 with the Government Gazette 81A - 14/05/1928 it was renamed Glistra.[4] According to the Kallikratis program, together with Agios Georgios, Golfari, Fteri, Karavdaika, Bournias, Myrofyllos, Pyrgos and Milotopos they constitute the community of Myrofyllos[5] which falls under the Municipal Unit of Myrofyllos of the Municipality of Pyli and according to the 2011 census 38 residents were registered[6].
