Administrative Region : West Macedonia
Regional unit : Kozani
Anthousa (Ανθούσα) is a small town in the municipal unit of Tsotyli, Kozani regional unit, Greece.[1]
Anthousa is a village in the municipality of Voio, Kozani prefecture. It is built at an altitude of 820 meters, on the slopes of Mount Voio[1], in the western part of the municipality of Voio. East of the village is the hill of Ai Lia[2]. According to the 2011 population census, the settlement has a population of 30 people[3].
Historical data
The old name of the village is Rezna[1]. According to the 1901 Ottoman census, the population of the village amounted to 300 residents, half of whom were Greek-speaking Christians and the rest Greek-speaking Muslims (Valaades)[4]. During the Macedonian Struggle, two residents of Anthoussa (P. and Stavros Konstantinou) were active on the side of the armed Macedonian fighters as third-class agents[5].
After the incorporation of Anthousa into the Greek state, the village was included in the province of Voio. In 1997, with the "Kapodistrias" plan, it was included in the municipality of Tsotyli[1]. Since 2011, with the "Kallikratis" plan, Anthousa has been included in the newly established municipality of Voio.
General information
The village is divided into two neighborhoods, the upper neighborhood where the local Voiotes live and the lower neighborhood where the descendants of the Asia Minor refugees live. To the east of Anthousa, there is the small church of Agios Ilias, built in 1968, in the same place where another small church was built in 1923 and destroyed during the Civil War[2].
